Minimum wage.

If you haven't seen the hashtag #1010, it represents the movement of raising minimum wage from 7.25/hr to $10.10/hr. In 2014 Obama signed this executive order.

I get why the business community doesn't like the idea of raising minimum wage, If employees are paid more, then there will definitely be side effects such as reduced hours, workplace benefits, and downsize. To me, I don't see how the business community is so worried, after all, the money circulates back into the economy. It's really not a hard concept to understand that if people are getting paid more, they are going to spend more, and that would help feeding our economy.

I think it would push a lot more people to work as well, mainly those that are doing things that society frowns upon on, like drug dealers. Drug dealers usually don't want to sell drugs but do it because it brings a lot of money. They know the consequences, they know it is illegal but hey still need to feed themselves. I'll use myself as an example as well, I have thought about getting a sugar daddy, because doing hard work for little money just doesn't seem worth it when I can get fed, spoiled, and paid at the same time. However it's still selling myself no matter how I look at it. If minimum wage was raised, I wouldn't mind standing around dealing with people for $10/hr at McDonalds, rather than pretending to like an old dude and put up with creepy situations.

Some say we shouldn't raise minimum wage because it wouldn't help the lowest wage earners because they often are incompetent of doing anything better for themselves than low paying jobs anyway. First off, how rude. There are idiots out there that deserves to struggle yes, however our economy has also screwed many hard working people over that has to settle for a minimum wage and they would be relieved of a lot of financial burden if the minimum wage amount was raised to $10.10.

Here's a short video less than 2 minutes that explains why we need to raise Minimum wage better than me.

I think we've all played the "red light, green light" game as children, where you have to stop and freeze in place when you hear red light being called then move when it is green light. The title of the article I chose, "Playing red light, green light." by Jonathan Turley contributor of USA today, is absolutely perfect for what it stands for, although the article is talking about yellow lights.

I actually don't understand why people have to look at the yellow light as something to beat, the author talks about politicians seeing yellow lights as a way of getting revenue from those who sees the yellow light. Yeah if that's true their intention are truly corrupt but why are you blaming the city, when the ones speeding like a maniac to avoid the light turning red are making the roads more dangerous. What is the hurry? if you're late, I understand that happens but don't take it out on citizens and put others' lives in danger, wake up earlier or something! estimate traffic time, or just accept that you're gonna be late and drive carefully, I think we all understand that. When driving, a good driver would look ahead and definitely notice as soon as the light turns yellow, then he will slow down into a stop with no problem

He also talks about breaking on yellow light as soon as he sees it and that causes rear-end accidents. Well I'd just like to point out that the place where he's naming these occurrences is in Chicago. Chicago is a huge city, how fast does a person have to drive to see someone stop, slam on their brakes, and crash into them? I'd say, pretty fast.

Guns can prevent rape, WHAT? such news, much impressed, wow.

"Guns don't deter sexual assaults." by Alan Fox of USA TODAY board contributors, talks about guns won't protect college students from getting sexually assaulted on campus, therefore it shouldn't be allowed. Apparently campus sexual assault has become the latest news topic and the fact that rape victims are suing the schools are causing schools to launch investigations. Alan Fox also states that it is "far out of proportion with the actual risk" and the pro-gun advocates took an advantage of this time to get their foot in the door to promote their propaganda.
There are a lot of things I'd like to say about this entire article. First of all, in many states it is illegal to carry a concealed weapon while consuming alcohol. Why does my constitutional rights go out the window when I'm on a campus? the whole purpose is for self-protection, and I, a female college student, not even in a total college environment (since it's community college you know.) feel uncomfortable walking by myself on campus when it gets dark. That's another thing, see first thing that irritated me was the tone of his message, people like him are the reasons why helpless victims don't feel comfortable to come forth with the truth. I know if I got raped, and there are people blaming me for getting raped costing them money to investigate, I would be pretty scarred and appalled.
He talked about statistics from the Bureau of Justice Statistics on sexual assaults on women, apparently sexual assault in college women is lower than non-college women. So "prohibiting college women from carrying guns on campus does not put them at greater risk." It would prevent the risk, or are women not important enough to at least try to protect. I don't know if anyone else can relate and agree with me on this, but no matter how much of an inebriated, sex-crazed college student I am or could be, seeing a gun would definitely sober me up and obey its master within a matter of seconds.

How Obama would spend our money in 2016.

Can you guys imagine free community college? You heard me right, FREE college. Obama got our backs you guys, his plan for 2016 is to give grants to the states that are willing to improve its education, make community college free for those who can meet certain conditions. This is just one of his many great plans for 2016.
On Feb 02, 2015 the Senate Budget Committee distributed Obama's 2016 budget plan. The plan talks about lowering war spendings, a new food safety agency, fund for new technology companies, establishing an interim disposal site for nuclear waste, money to buy body-worn cameras for police officers, ect.
